On Friday, October 11, 2024, a workshop on predicting the effects of various events on climate policies in the enlarged EU until 2035 was held in Tirana. The event brought together about 20 participants from different countries and organizations (e.g. European Climate Foundation, European Environment Agency, College of Europe, Clingendael Institute), including Ana-Maria Boromisa from IRMO. The Future Disruptions Game, a method developed by Future Impacts in collaboration with 70 international experts was used at the workshop to facilitate foresight.
The key issues discussed were:
- What do you expect the state of climate action in an enlarged EU to look like in 2035?
- What developments could alter that trajectory? What potential developments could have fundamental – or even radical – implications for climate action in an enlarged EU by 2035?
- What are some of the key levers we can pull today to make these more radical pathways possible, or even probable? Who needs to be at the table to make it happen?
