Research Assistant Lea Fabić at the TEPSA Academy and Skills Lab: European Strategic Autonomy

Research Assistant Lea Fabić participated in the TEPSA Academy and Skills Lab: European Strategic Autonomy, held in Brussels from 22 to 26 JuneTEPSA (Trans European Policy Studies Association) is Europe’s first research network, bringing together 52 leading research institutes from 37 European countries. It serves as an important platform for knowledge exchange and the professional development of early-career researchers. 

During the five-day programme, participants had the opportunity to deepen their understanding of the concept of strategic autonomy through a series of lectures and discussions with distinguished experts and representatives of European institutions. Particular emphasis was placed on the various dimensions of strategic autonomy, including security and defence, as well as the European Union’s economic, technological, and energy resilience in today’s geopolitical environment. As part of the programme, Research Assistant Lea Fabić actively participated in discussions with representatives of the Directorate-General for Defence Industry and Space (DG DEFIS), the Directorate-General for Trade (DG TRADE), the European External Action Service (EEAS), the European Defence Agency (EDA), and other institutions. The Academy covered topics such as the development and evolution of the European Union’s strategic autonomy concept, the EU’s position in an increasingly challenging geopolitical landscape, the future of transatlantic relations, supply chain security, the European defence industry, and the EU’s role in the Arctic. 

Participation in the programme provided a valuable opportunity to acquire new knowledge, exchange experiences with early-career researchers from across Europe and establish international professional networks. These connections contribute to the Institute’s international visibility while also creating opportunities for future research collaboration.
