The journal Migration and Ethnic Themes recently published the article “Left Behind: Unpacking Racialization of Migrant and Minoritized Students in Croatian Education During Covid-19,” authored by Emina Bužinkić, PhD, and Antonija Petričušić, PhD. The article discusses the deep-rooted inequalities in education that became more visible through the treatment of racialized children during the COVID-19 pandemic. The authors analyze how emergency measures — such as online education conducted exclusively in Croatian — further deepened existing forms of exclusion in the Croatian education system. Through an interdisciplinary approach and socio-legal analysis, the authors highlight systemic barriers to equitable education and call for the transformation of education policy toward greater inclusion, justice, and institutional accountability.

The article is published in English and available at the following link.
