Municipal Cross-Border Cooperation in the Western Balkans Project (MCBC WB6) Workshop Inclusive Energy Transition in the WB6: Women’s Leadership, Marginalized Groups, and Municipal Cooperation was held on December 4th, 2025. The hybrid workshop was organized by the National Alliance for Local Economic Development (NALED) from Belgrade, Serbia, and the German Energy Agency (dena).
The head of the Department, Ana-Maria Boromisa, PhD, held a presentation Labor Market Implications of the Energy Transition in the Western Balkans on the panel on women’s contributions and labor market impacts in local energy transition. In her presentation, Dr. Boromisa analyzed women’s inclusion and the evolving patterns of vulnerability that arise as structural change progresses, and replicable practices.
The workshop’s aim was to strengthen inclusive energy transition in the six Western Balkan countries by emphasizing women’s leadership, contributions of the marginalized communities, and municipal cooperation across borders. Representatives of local self-governments also shared experiences and considered how municipalities can promote inclusiveness in regional and international climate and energy policy formats. By bringing together actors from across the WB6 region, as well as different experts, this workshop fostered cross-border networking and co-operation, providing a foundation for sustainable, local-level energy transformation.
