On Tuesday, March 11, students and professors from the North Carolina State University visited IRMO’s Center for Migration Studies. During the thematic discussion “Migration Regimes in the EU and the U.S.”, students presented their research projects on political decisions of the new administration regarding the increased control and surveillance of migrants through outsourced assistance systems, people’s views of migration, strategies for countering the far right, and media coverage of the issue.

A group of researchers and integration workers in Croatia shared their experiences in the field of integration, addressing challenges related to housing and employment, as well as other issues faced by refugees and migrants. They also presented research on the long summer of migration, newly established mobility control regimes, conditions of migrant labor, and the implementation of the New Pact on Migration and Asylum. Special thanks to colleagues Salam Al-Nidawi from the Rehabilitation Center for Stress and Trauma, Marijana Hameršak from the Institute of Ethnology and Folklore Research, and Ana Vučemilović and Emina Bužinkić from the Institute for Development and International Relations.
