On December 9, 2024, the conference “Social Aspects of Abandoning Gas by 2035” was held at Hotel Dubrovnik in Zagreb. Ana-Maria Boromisa, PhD, the Head of the Department for International Economic and Political Relations, presented the results of the analysis and participated in the panel discussion.
The analysis of the social aspects of the abandonment of gas until 2035 builds on the analysis of the technical potential of degasification made for Zelena Akcija in 2023 by the team of prof. Neven Duić, PhD, from the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering and Naval Architecture in Zagreb. The social analysis considered the effects of replacing gas with renewable energy sources in the production of electricity and its use for heating and preparation of hot water in households. The focus of the analysis is on the most vulnerable citizens: the poor, citizens affected by energy poverty and citizens living on the verge of poverty.
Along with dr. Boromisa, Ana Pavičić Kaselj, the Head of the City Office for Economy, Environmental Sustainability and Strategic Planning, and Jasna Pipunić, the President of the Trade Union (SING) also participated in the panel discussion.
