Senada Šelo Šabić, Scientific Adviser at the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO), participated in the EU Network Against Corruption plenary, held on 22 October 2026 at the Albert Borschette Conference Centre in Brussels.
The programme focused on current European anti-corruption policies and practical approaches to corruption prevention. The European Commission presented recent developments in the EU’s fight against corruption, including the 2026 Rule of Law Report and progress in preparing the EU Anti-Corruption Strategy.
Particular attention was given to awareness-raising and integrity training, managing conflicts of interest, and risks associated with employment after leaving public office. The programme also addressed corruption prevention at the local level and opportunities for funding anti-corruption projects through EU instruments.
Drawing on the experience of public authorities, international organisations, academia and civil society, discussions explored how to design anti-corruption measures that work in practice and are subject to effective oversight. Prevention was central to the programme — from strengthening knowledge and professional standards to adapting measures to the specific challenges of local governance.
