Dr Senada Šelo Šabić, Scientific Adviser at the Institute for Development and International Relations (IRMO), participated in the international scientific conference “Future of Women’s Rights: Marking the Anniversaries of CEDAW and the Istanbul Convention”, held on 1–2 April 2026 at the Inter-University Centre in Dubrovnik.

The conference was organised by the Faculty of Law, University of Zagreb, under the leadership of Prof Antonija Petričušić, within the NINA project, and under the auspices of relevant Croatian institutions.

The year 2026 marks the 45th anniversary of the entry into force of CEDAW and the 15th anniversary of the opening for signature of the Istanbul Convention — two cornerstone instruments in the protection of women’s rights.

Dr Šelo Šabić moderated the panel “Diplomatic Perspectives on Gender Equality: Good Practices and International Standards”, bringing together diplomats and international actors .

She also presented her research at the panel “Governance and Transformation of Gender Equality”, with a paper titled “Mainstreaming Gender in EU Enlargement: Women, Backlash, and Accession from Below” .

Through its participation, IRMO contributes to ongoing academic and policy discussions on structural discrimination, European integration and societal transformation.
